On the first day of a no-confidence debate against him and 10 other cabinet members,  Prime minister Prayut sarcastically challenged the Pheu Thai Party to bring back their so-called de facto leader Thaksin Shinawatra from self-exile in Dubai during a heated debate yesterday.

 

Thaksins daughter Paethong-tarn Shinawatra will likely be named as Pheu Thai Party’s  candidate ahead of elections due to be held next year., 

 

Five people have been charged with defrauding 6 million baht from a  British man in exchange for freeing him from an immigration  detention center.

 

The unnamed British man was the subject of an Interpol red notice which led to his detention,  a court then refused bail. 

 

Pol Lt Gen Sura-chate said One police officer and 4 others  have been charged with colluding to commit fraud. 

 

Police plan to launch a road traffic points and ticketing system. Drivers will start with 12 points which will be reduced if they are caught committing an offense such as speeding or running a red light. The system is due to start in January.

 

The minister of transport says Bangkok will see up to 1,000 new electric buses on the streets by the end of the year. Most will be operated by private companies starting in November, Bangkok buses could be carrying around a million passengers a day by the new year.

 

2 million amphetamine tablets, were found after police gave chase to a Honda car and a pickup truck that refused to stop on the border with Prachuap and Chumphon, police finally blocked the road, where the driver attempted to escape, the 27 year old driver was arrested and admitted delivering drugs on 2 previous occasions for 40 thousand baht a trip. 

 

The department of transport has approved the construction of a bridge to link Kho Samui to the mainland in Nakhon Si Thammarat. The Khanom Toll bridge will be 17 kilometers long and cost an estimated 25 billion baht.
