Health experts will form a committee today to consider whether Monkeypox should be placed on the highest alert after the World Health Organisation  declared ‘Monkey pox a global health emergency.

 

So far there is one known case of monkeypox in Thailand,  - a 27-year-old Nigerian man who had symptoms in Phuket and was arrested but managed to flee to Cambodia where he is now being detained. It’s believed the man will not be required to return to Thailand, 

 

Health authorities say Bangkok is likely to see a 6th wave of Covid infections as the BA.5 sub-variant spreads across the country, a leading health expert added  tens of thousands of new infections are likely per day by the end of August.
