Hold 1 year Guardian visa, visit overseas possible?

Featured Replies

Hi there,

As in the subject line, I have a Guardian visa (my daughter holds a Thai passport) which was renewed in March, and I just did my first 90 day report last Thursday.

My Dad has been taken ill in the UK and may not make it, and it's likely I will need to visit soon.

What happens to my visa, as it's not multiple entry? From memory, is it necessary to return as a tourist, then apply for another 3 month non O, then reapply for one year Guardian visa? Or would I be granted permission to leave for a few weeks and return once I am able?

Is anyone familiar with this scenario?

I would appreciate the assistance.

Cheers in advance,

Andy

Re-entry permit needed. You can pick one up at the airport immigration desk after check-in, or go to immigration first before you leave where you live.

You apparently applied for a one year extension of stay (it is not a visa) based upon being the parent of a Thai.

You can apply for a re-entry permit to keep the remainder of your extension valid when you enter the country. A single re-entry permit is 1000 baht and multiple for 3800 baht. Ther re-entry permit will be valid for entry up to the day your extension expires.

If you have a 12 month extension (It is not a Visa) you need a Re Entry Permit from Immigration or at the airport.
