LPA off Northern Luzon develops into tropical depression

A low pressure area was seen 880 kilometers east of extreme northern Luzon, PAGASA said in a weather advisory.

MANILA, Philippines (Updated 3:00 p.m.) — As earlier forecasted by PAGASA, the low pressure area off northern Luzon has become a tropical depression and has been named “Ester.”

 

Bulletins on Ester, which was seen 880 kilometers east of extreme northern Luzon, will be issued by the state weather service beginning Friday, 5 p.m.

 

The combined effects of the LPA and the southwest monsoon or habagat will bring scattered light to moderate with at times heavy rainshowers and thunderstorms over the following areas:

 

  • Calabarzon
  • Mimaropa
  • Metro Manila
  • Bicol region
  • Samar provinces
  • Zambales
  • Bataan
  • Antique
