Electric scooter explodes and almost burns down rental room

Featured Replies

They have regulations in my condo that there should be no gas cooking. They haven't put a ban on EV charging yet. Just a matter of time I guess.

The only surprising fact from this article is the word "almost". Lithium batteries can be very dangerous. And when they burn they burn. And water only makes it worse.

  • Well, we’re being pushed by Alarmists and politicians and leftist activists to switch to electric vehicles. Then they better make damn sure they can drive through a puddle without a serious problem.

  • Oh yea, Buddha forbid owners should actually operate the vehicles responsibly.   Irresponsible people are and always have been the problem.

So do people wheel them into the lifts, down the corridor and into their rooms? That might be a fire concern...

Simply spend a wee bit more, and buy a proper, full size e-motorcycle, that can be registered,  which start at 37k, (DECO brand) with removable battery for easy charging in condo/apt.

Still not waterproof, though OK to ride through very 'small' puddles or damp road.  I wouldn't ride in any rain (lite drizzle) for any length of time.

You can get waterproof ones for about 40k.

Guessing if one in OP had a decent lithium battery, then it was probably just shy of 30k anyway.
