BANGKOK, Aug 4 (TNA) – Thailand is following up situations in the Taiwan Strait while adhering to its one-China policy and hoping all parties prioritize peaceful solutions, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Regarding United States House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi's visit to Taiwan, Tanee Sangrat, spokesman of the ministry, said Thailand was monitoring situations in the Taiwan Strait with high concern and it adhered to its one-China policy. Thailand did not want to see any activity that would heighten tension and undermine peace and stability in the region.

Thailand hoped that all parties concerned would be patient and comply with international laws, respect territorial sovereignty and integrity and solve problems peacefully, he said.

Then, I assume Thailand will be issuing a condemnation of China's "live fire" exercises surrounding Taiwan, beginning today. Essentially, it amounts to a blockade. Perhaps the US should set a submarine or two off the waters of Singapore and announce a "live fire" exercise for any cargo, container, or tankers going to China.

It's like saying "the ant is watching the elephant closely" watch what exactly? how China is bullying another country? flexing their muscles and might, on whom? on a tiny Island?...

I'm in full support of the One China Policy, too. I think the elected officials of Taiwan should run the entire Middle Kingdom.

Certainly that has as much legitimacy as the commies claiming sovereignty over an island they have governed for a sum total of zero seconds since appointing themselves to power.

Its all about money with the Thais, nothing else matters to them.

If you load this in Chrome and translate to English, you'll see what China is actually doing in the military exercise - and it is to choke Taiwan.

Marked areas are those that exercises are at. All around TW. In article you have explanation why each of them matter and how they cripple Taiwan.

This is the same Thai government that supports China's exclusive claim of sovereignty over the entire South China Sea and all its attendant resources that was held invalid by the International Court of Justice. Yet, Thailand itself has zero claim to any of the SCS and should thus ordinarily remain neutral or side with INTERNATIONAL LAW. But for the Prayut regime that's a mighty political hurdle while bringing tied to Xi's political hip.

That's now the question.

the same Thailand that is "supposedly" neutral Russia invasion of Ukraine and yet they received Russia delegation, but they are neutral ... look at Thailand "neutral" past  555

Thailand in World War II officially adopted a position of neutrality until the five hour-long Japanese invasion of Thailand on 8 December 1941,

Problem is that China has seen what Russia has done! No doubt Putin has told Xi to get on with it as nothing is going to happen!

China's claim that Taiwan is their territory is rubbish, but no doubt the Thais obtain more benefit from their relationship with Beijing than with Taipei so they will back the so-called One China policy.

Coming from a regime that took power via a coup that's priceless.

Once again the Americans stirring the war pot.

Very curious to see how Thailand fairs in the next few years. Especially if China cannot curb the virus and production goes away.
