Thai media Siam Rath reported that tourism in the central province of Samut Songkhram - famous for its floating markets - was badly hit in the pandemic. 

 

Many people were infected and died in the province.

 

Many facilities were closed, some sold up for good such as shops, hotels, resorts and other tourist attractions.

 

Things are slowly getting better, however.

From zero tourism it has now returned to about 30% of previous levels at such places as the Amphawa Floating Market, the famous market by the railway tracks and other markets and attractions in the area. 

 

They expected a full recovery to previous levels of tourism after another year or more - providing there were no more infections. 

 

The media provided no evidence for their 30% recovery claim, notes ASEAN NOW.
