Opening USD account.......

Featured Replies

Dear all,

Can you open USD account by depositing a bit dirty USD bank notes?

Thanks

In theory yes, but it would come down to the teller taking the notes, they can be reluctant to take dirty, damaged, old notes. Same with currency exchange booths, they prefer new clean notes.

MOVED TO BANKING

It depends on the bank and staff. I have had notes get rejected by some and not others. Some countries also don't accept notes that were produced during earlier dates either. I have had both issues. I used to give troublesome notes away as 'tips', figuring the local might have more success in off loading the notes.

Yes, if the bank will accept them, they're under no obligation to accept soiled notes.

Banks aren't as fussy as the smaller exchange booths.

Banks will accept slightly soiled notes.

I've got a USD account with Kasikorn, you'll need $5000 as a minimum balance.

Mmmm, interesting.

I opened my USD account with Kasikorn around 14 years ago, I wonder if things have changed.

I'm not fussed, I keep well over the minimum balance in the account anyway.

Yes, I understand.

He's probably looking for more feedback.

As I said earlier, I did not comment on his first posting, my comments have brought up the fact that minimum balance down as low as $250 with SCB.

I'm sure the OP is delighted he reposted.

I'm glad that he reposted, I've leanrt something new from it.
