Thailand's Department of Disease Control says  Monitoring of coronavirus mutations will remain unchanged  after Covid is re-categorized to a similar level as Dengue fever in October.

 

Covid will continue to be monitored to ensure any new mutations will be detected early, 

 

The Myanmar military freed a Thai movie director held since the beginning of the year by an ethnic group that had allegedly demanded a 24 million baht ransom,


However Myanmar junta officials said  ‘Ramai Moriphan’  known as Danny  had willingly entered the Red Wa zone and not been kidnapped. Officials In Thailand  claim they had a photo of him being chained next to a fighter holding a pistol.

 

The Royal Thai Navy is considering whether to accept Chinese made engines for new submarines currently being purchased after the German engine manufacturer refused to provide engines to a third country. The Chinese made engines will be tested and delivery of the subs is likely in 2024.

 

Police yesterday warned the public not to gather in large groups without permission from local authorities, or risk up to 2 years in jail or a fine of 40 000 baht for violating regulations to prevent the spread of Covid-19.


North and central Thailand  has seen extensive amounts of rain and flooding across 10 provinces. 


Meanwhile in Bangkok 18 large water pumps have been installed and troops are on standby to assist people in case of flooding in the capital.

Hong Kong's national security police arrested two civil servants yesterday for allegedly publishing seditious posts online..Police said the pair, aged 28 and 29, were administrators of a Facebook page called Civil Servants Secrets, which publishes anonymous posts by government workers. 

 

 India has withdrawn a proposed personal data protection law amid concerns from big technology companies and privacy advocates about the use of data and government control.


The law had proposed restrictions on the use of personal data without the explicit consent of individuals.


The withdrawal leaves one of the world's biggest Internet-use markets without a privacy law.
