A couple of questions: RE: new UK passport,  does anyone know if  you need to make copies of your old UK and Thai passport if they have already expired ?  Also is getting an adult passport after previously having a child's passport (now expired) classed as a renewal or first passport?

Cheers

Thai passport is not relevant to UK passport application.

You are renewing it is NOT a new application.

Renewal requires copies of ALL pages of passport.

Application submitted via VFS in Bangkok or Chiang Mai.

Not so sure about that, although I think it is ignored/overlooked frequently.

From the application form;

Uncancelled can include expired passports if they have not been formally cancelled (corners cut, stamped cancelled, etc) by the issuing authority.

The application form requires copies of both passports if dual nationality.. My question is.. do you still need to copy them if they are expired..

I would copy them anyway, the application will be reviewed at the VFS, if they want them, you have them. They have full copy and translation services at VFS so you shouldnt have any problems.
