How many days are required in BKK for marriage docs?

Featured Replies

Getting confused reading different sources.

Only want to visit BKK for the British embassy appointment, then it seems I have to have certain documents translated and verified. The local ampur isn't decided yet but won't be BKK.

Some websites are saying it can be done all the same day if early enough, others mention waiting 2, 3, 4 days.

Want to be in and out of BKK asap - will I be required to wait around a few days to then pick up verified documents or can they be posted?

Translation can be done same day, make sure they are correct though, ours was sloppy and needed to be corrected - get your wife to contact some of Line and go with the most responsive one. But you need them certified by the MFA. You don't need to use the MFA in Bangkok - and when we looked on the app the booking slots were months out for Bangkok there are other MFAs - there is one in Chiang Mai for example. The MFA EMS them for what I remember

We did it in under 24 hours from going to the embassy to the amphur. At every step is was the last minute, embassy let us back in after closing with translated docs and at the amphur the door closed just after we got there. I only agreed to do it as I thought it was impossible as I was back home next day, <deleted>!

Ive seen some blog posts about the 24hr marriage, but at least for us, it was a multi-step slow process albeit this was in Bangkok though where the rules are more strict, appointments weeks out, amphur needing time to check documents before offering appointment, witnesses required and their IDs verified, a lengthy interview to verify authenticity etc..  I couldn't imagine doing it all in a day.

Nor did i. Left Landmark Hotel at 2.30 for the Brit embassy, when taxi went wrong way thought that's that then. Got there just before closing handed in the freedom to marry docs- told nip down the road for translation will let you back in after 3.30 to hand back ???? Pick up am next day, off to MOFA get there just before 12, go back PM to pick up at 2.30. For once they call us early and think no way we can get to the amphur by 3.30 but mrs found one up the road, we get there at 3.30. Official finds a common problem- bad translation, hallelujah I think, but the bitch lets us off. Just bad luck all round. ????

Do I need to do the same with MFA?
