Listening to some of the rumours about the grandfathering of existing

Visa holders may be changing this year,

Should the rumours turn out to be true …..

I would like to find out the best way to deal with my situation

( Should the grandfathering rule be stopped )

I have a Non ‘ O ‘ Visa and at present obtain my yearly

Visa extension on the grounds of being married to a Thai citizen and

By showing an amount of 400,000 Baht in a Thai bank,

along with the normal bank confirmation letter etc.

I am over 50 years of age, I can show 400,000 Baht

In a Thai bank, I have a monthly income of over 40,000,,, Baht

From abroad, but cannot authenticate this.

I don’t really want to deposit 800,000 in a Thai bank, which would

At the current time allow me to apply for a ‘’Retirement’’ visa

based on my age.

I live about 2 Hours away from a Thai Immigration Boarder Post

So I am trying to get prepared and find out my options

Just in case …

What options do I have …?

Thanks ……

I don't renew until later this year so don't have an answer for you.

I am curious though. Did you read the thread started just over an hour before this one and decide to start a new thread instead of ask there?

Terry

PS You could call immigration and ask them.

Hi Terry..... Ok you have caught me out, I did just see the other thread about the possibility

Of the grandfather rules being changed in the future, seeing that new post then prompted me to post a separate

Question related to my own personal circumstances, I thought if I posted my personal

Question on the original post, it may be some what confusing…?

Having said that I hope some one can advise me about what options I may have

Should the grandfathering option be done away with, one thing I omitted in my original post was

To say that we (my wife and me) don’t run a Thai business so the 40, 000 Baht a month from

A Thai business option will not apply .

Asking at Immigration for information for me has not always been successful

And some times misleading, so I try and gain first hand facts and accounts from

TV members if possible.

Thanks for your comments …..
