Cycling - Kenyan cyclist Suleiman Kangangi has died following a high-speed crash in a race in the United States over the weekend. The 33-year-old, who raced for the East African based Team Amani, was taking part in the Overland gravel race in Vermont.

 

Football - In Spain's La Liga Atletico Madrid won 1-0 at Valencia and Athletic Bilbao won 4-0 at Cadiz.

 

English Premier League side Nottingham Forest have signed Atletico Madrid's full-back Renan Lodi on a season-long loan.

 

The 24-year-old Brazilian is the 18th signing of the summer for the newly promoted side and Midland rivals Wolves have agreed to pay Stuttgart 18m euros plus add-ons for their striker Sasa Kalajdzic.

 

The 25 year old striker, 25, has been monitored by Wolves' for a number of weeks. West Ham have announced the "club record signing" of Brazil midfielder Lucas Paqueta on a five year contract.

 

The 25-year-old has joined from Lyon for a deal that could rise to could rise to more than £50m with potential add-ons. 

 

Baseball - A Mickey Mantle baseball card has been sold for $12.6m  to become the most valuable piece of sports memorabilia ever sold at auction.

 

The previous record of 8.3 million dollars was held by the shirt worn by footballer Diego Maradona when he scored the 'Hand of God' goal at the 1986 World Cup which was sold in May at Sotheby's in London.
