Fire consumes 200 million baht in rubber in Songkhla province

A fire occurred at a rubber processing plant in Songkhla province causing more than 200 million baht in damages.

The Superintendent of the Rattaphum (รัตภูมิ) district precinct, Pol Col Chote Chaichompu (โชติ ชัยชมพู) reported that earlier today (June 23rd 10:00) a fire occurred at the B-Right Rubber Company processing plant in Rattaphum district of Songkhla province. The Police Superintendent reported that he immediately led a response unit to the scene, and coordinated with provincial fire fighting units in extinguishing the blaze.

An estimated 10,000 bales of rubber, weighting 100 tons, are believed to be stored in the processing plant. Authorities were able to bring the fire under control earlier this evening. Damages are estimated at 200 million baht though no casualties have been reported.

Officials are not certain of the cause of the fire and are awaiting investigations by forensics officers.
