Big Pom enjoys the ride but security/aides don't get a seat - one gives up on the 2KM run!

Thai media including Siam Rath were less interested in acting premier Prawit Wongsuwan's visit to a water treatment facility in Chachoengsao than a cock-up over transport, notes ASEAN NOW.

After being briefed on how waste water is turned into potable water Prawit - known as Big Pom and not known for his ability to walk extended distances - got into golf cart #1 for a two kilometer trip to a klong.

Unfortunately despite a large number of carts and trams following there weren't enough spaces for two heavily dressed security men or aides.

They had to run alongside the portly premier and one couldn't keep up at all in the heat of the late morning.

He just gave up the chase.

Sanook Thai Caption: Are you tired?

The one that did manage the full distance was met with a bit of joshing about being tired amid suggestions he must be trained as a soldier or a fitness freak.

No such jibes were leveled at Prawit of course who after hearing more about water treatment undoubtedly went for a satisfying lunch.

Obvious "Big Pom" doesn't give a da*m about the "commoners" in his security detail.  That's typical Thai elite thinking.  "Me 'High'; You 'Low'"  Personally if I was him I'd treat my security detail with due respect as these are the people guarding his life.  Treat them like dirt and he may eventually find himself mortally exposed with no one willing to sacrifice their own lives to protect him.  I would not want to lose the respect of my security detail.
But?  Hubris and arrogance have their own rewards.  You reap what you sow.

They need exercise/training in North Korea

I have to bite my tongue not to comment how #1 treats his guards. Example set.

A planning error?

Not enough transport capacity provided for the entourage? Planning is the mental anticipation of future action. This ability is lacking here in one place or another.

So " Deputy Dawg " sees himself as another Kim Jung .

Needs his Staff to train harder to achieve that.

That was my 1st thought, too. ????

They can't be security....no dark glasses or ear plugs....plus they seem to have beer guts!

Those North Korean guys look much more fit, like they'd trained for a lifetime of running next to a Mercedes limo.  The ones running after Big Pom were probably the managers of the waste treatment plant, who, like me, decided to major in engineering in college because there was no requirement to take physical education, unlike the poor saps who majored in the liberal arts.

And possibly weighed down with spare stand-by watches.

Easy to find many videos of exact same situation in the USA, security folks running alongside the presidents car.

The Teletubby must be wedged directly behind the driver to avoid him rolling out on a sharp turn. As to there being 'trams' following....I see no rails.....????

Seems to be an empty seat up front in the golf cart next to the driver?

"Prawit - known as Big Pom and not known for his ability to walk"

There, fixed it.

What a joke, so if he was to be attacked half of the guards couldn't last a round.

I think pushing around in a wheelchair everywhere will save a heap of time

If they fail to keep up the penalties are severe.

More wasted money, a JCB bucket would be better to move that hulk around.

Yet another Big Pom farce. The watchman really seems to be a magnet for ridicule.

When I saw the headline "Big Pom" and then the Golf cart with the security detail I thought it was an old photo of Howard the Police Volunteer exiting walking street in his cart with the other volunteers running alongside. I saw that many a night and always brought a smile to my face.
