just curious can i get a non-b and keep leaving the country every 3 months to apply at the same job every 3months? how does that work? cause i know u cant work on a tourist visa cause its technically illegal in thailand, but on a non-b u can work, so it that case is it possible to appy for a non-b with the company and same letter i bring to a thai embassy out side thailand? will i have a problem?

but on a non-b u can work,

I'm 99 and 84 / 100ths percent sure that this part of your theory is incorrect. A non B visa allows you to come to thailand for 90 days to seek work and apply for a work permit, but the permit must be obtained before you actually commence working.

The embassies will wise up to you if you apply for too many sequential Non B visas. They will stamp your passport with a big red stamp that says something like "Work permit must be shown before issuance of any further visas."

Any of the mods or visa savvy guys can correct me if I'm wrong.

getting a new "1 year multiple entry non b" every 15 months would be more convenient than getting a new "3 month single entry non b" every 3 mnoths.

I think the OP would have to go to his home country to stand a chance of getting a multi-entry Non B... definitely won't get it from Penang or any of the other nearby countries.

some guy offered me non-b multiply entry visa 15 month for 25k baht, was that a good deal? but he said my USA passport must got to the UK for a week..... Well the place that I work told me they would provide me with the paper work for a non-b but then i would be on my own in terms of getting a work permit but i dont know excatly how to get one cause i dont have experience in this field, any logical steps I should take to proceed?

At the Thai consulate in Auckland New Zealand the 1 year multi entry Non B costs $250 New Zealand dollars.

If someone is offering to "send your passport", then this is illegal and I'd tell him to F off.

ONLY CONSIDER GETTING A VISA YOURSELF IN PERSON AT A THAI EMBASSY/CONSULATE ABROAD.

Besides, you have to re-enter Thailand(you and your passport together) on your Non B visa so you can get a 90 day permit of stay stamp and then proceed with the WP formalities.

Why not give me the 25K and the paperwork from your company? I'll hire the forum sponsor Sunbelt Asia on your behalf!

IF the company are hiring you and they have all their papers in order and meet the requirements (4 Thai employees for each foreigner work permit, 2 million baht of registered capital per foreigner work permit, a minimum salary depending on your nationality (55 000 for US citizens?) etc.) you should be able to get an extension on your present Non-B visa. You apply for this at the Immigration office with all the required documents (a LARGE stack of company papers, tax documents, social fees documents etc.), and it will typically involve getting an 'Under consideration' stamp two-three times, every 30 days before they grant an extension up to a year. It may also involve a visit from Immigration to the company in order to satisfy themselves that the company is legit and that everything is in order. The same process will then be repeated next year.

From your posts, it sounds as if the company are not willing to take you down this route though. If you work in Thailand without a work permit (no matter if you have a Non-B visa or not) you will be working illegally and this will be a problem if you are caught.

thx for the info meatball:

I am hired as a part-timer, but might be working full-time hours so i guess im gonna be illegal anyways I assume, but if i get the non-b visa, can i apply for a work permit on my own? is that all i would need is a non-b visa and a work permit to be "Legal"?

Yes, that's basically correct.

However, you can not get a work permit without the company backing you up with the relevant documents and giving you a specific position at the company - work permits are issued for specific positions, they are not general documents allowing you to work with anything.

The work permit you apply for from the Ministry of Labour which is a different department altogether from Immigration.

The requirements for a work permit are actually not as strict as those required to renew a Non Immigrant B visa (the salary requirements are lower and the paid up capital for the company is lower, for example).

Also note that work permits follow the stamps given for your Non B Visa - let's say you have been stamped in for 90 days by Immigration, and the permission to stay expires on the 23rd of August.

Then you go to apply for the work permit at the Ministry of Labour with the required documents. If your application is granted, your work permit will only be valid until the last day of your stamp in the passport i.e. 23rd of August.

To renew this work permit, you, or a company representative holding a proxy signed by you as well as your passport with a valid Non Immigrant visa and a stamp permitting your stay, must be at the Ministry of Labour on the 23rd of August. Any later and you need to file a new application for work permit.

You'd probably be best off asking Sunbelt Asia about the specifics needed as it was a while ago I started my process, and a.) I cant remember now exactly what they required, and b.) the rules may have changed since I did it.
