THE Public Health Ministry is moving to purchase updated Covid vaccines with this expected to take place next year and all those in the high-risk groups would require one jab each, Matichon newspaper said yesterday (Sept. 6).

Dr. Sophon Iamsirithavorn, deputy head of the Disease Control Department, said the ministry has been working with relevant agencies on Covid vaccine management especially importing the new generation of vaccines.

The National Vaccine Committee will be holding a meeting to consider this issue next month. Selection of the vaccines will go through a panel of experts taking into account safety, effectiveness and cost-effectiveness.

COVID is certainly not over...

Less death and new cases seems so - but certainly not over and certainly a concern for those in a high risk group such as age and underlying conditions.

Has Thailand stopped manufacturing Astrazeneca at it's Thailand based facility?

Asking for a friend.

This isn't true and should get push back. The world is trying to move on and effective vaccines are a part of the roadmap that gets everyone globally to a better place, rich or poor nation. Covid is now with us for years to come. You know, like flu which we annually vaccinate for...

As it should be at this stage....

I am curious are you saying everyone should ignore it?

Or just young and healthy people?

No, thank you, I'll pass this time around, especially if it's an mRNA vaccine. Shockingly to some, however, I might consider a Chinese vaccine. But not what is on offer from the likes of Pfizer and Moderna.
