Football - Last night's Champions League action saw holders Real Madrid cruise to a 3-0 win in Scotland against Glasgow Celtic. Erling Haaland scored twice as Manchester City thrashed  a dismal Sevilla side 4-0.

 

Dinamo Zagreb beat Chelsea 1-0. PSG won 2-1 against Juventus. Borussia Dortmund beat  FC Copenhagen 3-0. Shakhtar Donetsk won 4-1 at RB Leipzig, Benfica won 2-0 against Maccabi Haifa and FC Red Bull Salzburg drew 1-1 with AC Milan.

 

Highlights from the Womens' World Cup qualifying matches played last night included Wales holding firm to reach the  play-offs for the first time thanks to a 0-0 draw against Slovenia in Cardiff. There were also good wins for England, Scotland Czech Republic and Sweden.

 

Tennis -  Casper Ruud has reached his first US Open semi-final with a victory over Matteo Berrettini.
Fifth seed Rudd won 6-1 6-4 7-6  and in the Women's competition fifth seed Ons Jabeur ended Ajla Tomljanovic's run to reach the US Open semi-finals for the first time 6-4 7-6 .
