What's the funniest thing you've seen regarding mask wearing in Thailand.

Featured Replies

I thought I'd seen it all, but this morning when I was taking the kids to school, I stopped at the stop sign, looked in my rear vision mirror to make sure I wasn't going to get rear ended as I was slowing and there it was.

A motorbike rider with pillion passenger, the rider had on a full face helmet with tinted shield down and wait for it, a face mask.....????

Is this total paranoia or what, I though it was funny watching people driving vehicles alone with face masks on, but this topped it.

So let's have a laugh, share your funniest experience regarding face masks in Thailand, I reckon this is a hard one to top, but you never know.

  • As for the reasons Thais where masks is because covid has not gone away.   Only stupid falangies think they know it all.    The funniest thing I thought was cute was statues figure

  • Not so funny ......,but  a Thai woman  on the Escalator   quickly pulling down her Mask   to sneeze without covering her  mouth/ nose

  • It's prolonging the return to normality. It's so nice travelling around UK, Spain etc. and seeing virtually no masks. The mask wearing in Thailand just makes it seem a bit depressing now.

Maybe the mask just does not bother them and did not bother taking it off or they need to put on in a few mins when they get off and just easier to leave on than cram in their pocket?

Cannot really see whats funny about it at all....

Why do people sometimes leave their helmut on when they go into 7/11? hahaha hilarious.....

I would drive also with a mask alone because of the PM 2.5 matter. After nearly 7 Million deaths worldwide because of Covid, Thais did it very good wearing a mask. Farang simply stupid?

Is this total paranoia or what

Pot, meet kettle. :cheesy:

We still wear masks when in the common areas of our condo here in BKK when others are about, in the lifts, and out on the sidewalks while walking if folks are around.  If no one around then we drop the mask down and wear it as a chin warmer.......thats the funny thing to see I bet me wearing it as a chin warmer...

This did not happen in Thailand but in the US - nevertheless I post it because it is by far the most funny thing I have seen/heard of in this regard:

"A woman wore a mask but she had cut out a hole in it where her mouth was. Being asked why she did that she answered: Because I can breathe better that way".

No one is suggesting Covid has gone away, only stupid farangs would think that, e.g. it's here to stay and take it's place like the commin cold/flu, so why bother masking up.

why continue with the masks, are we so fragile, back in Aus, it's over, no masks, back to normality, albeit they do ask if you have it to isolate.

I ponder around without a mask as does my wife and kids, we are all vaccinated and have had Covid, we have moved on, masks are only to be put on when required, e.g. to enter a store, a plane, they are not required at concerts where thousands of people go, we have been, haven't had an issue, and we hear 30,000 plus people get infected per day, so what, like I said, it has become so weak it's like a common cold/flu and that is what we experienced months back.

If people want to live in fear and live in a cocoon and wear a mask under a full face helmet or while they are alone in a car, up to them, obviously some people don't see the irony in it.

Everyone has basically been triple vaxed, and had Covid, so why continue with the masks, are we so fragile, back in Aus, it's over, no masks, back to normality, albeit they do ask if you have it to isolate.

So, i will ask the question that I previously asked but you chose not to answer:

Why does it bother you so much what other people do?

The list is endless, here's some recent ones

- BTS drivers masked (they have their own cabin)

- Long distance truck drivers

- Guy video conferencing in a private meeting room (on his own)

- Guy drinking a pint with < 2 second gulps between mask refitting
- Foreigners outside masked

For more giggles watch the way they open doors with their elbows.  Yes, yes, there will be a tiny minority with immocompromised elder people at home, like everywhere else, but we're talking 99.5% of them still acting irrationally, doesn't make sense. The saddest part is whilst you can adopt each to their own mentality, and hey ho, doesnt bother me, not hurting anyone etc etc.. when you see toddlers and young kids masked and childrens parks and amusements closed or fenced off you can't help but wonder how selfish these hypochondriac are in kicking this fear in to next year whilst all other countries, including neighbors, and certainly EU/UK/US/AU are moving forward at pace.  No masks on Singapore Airlines an example for this week..

Wow a mask hater and one who can not understand people wear them not because they are hypochondriacs or living in fear...

An individual in a car, windows up and wearing a face mask. Also security people wearing two masks.

I didn't say it bothered me, i.e. unless you can quote me.

Each to their own, I just found it quite stupid to be honest.

The funniest (saddest) thing I've seen (or heard, actually) about wearing masks is that some people actually think it's being done to "control" them, and not as a method to help curb the spread of COVID-19. ????

Thais walking around in the open air wearing mask/s. Even my wife. Wearing a mask is insane and it always was but now more than ever.

Let us just wear masks in common public areas to be civil.

What idocy.

I wear a mask in the car if I am going through a toll booth - just for that reason. And remove after going through. The toll booth staff seem to wear them so I do it out of respect. It may not be necessary but otherwise I am not sure what the irony is in that........
