The Interior Ministry plans to submit draft legislation for Cabinet approval tomorrow. The Council of State has approved the bill.

According to the law, applications for those under 15 years can be submitted by parents and carried by them on their children's behalf.

Today, only those older than 15 need to have identification cards.

Critics attacked the move as "irrelevant and impractical". Children and parents are not together all the time, they said.

Children under 15 are already considered the responsibility of parents and schools.

If anything could demonstrate the idiotic thinking that the Junta represents, this is it! One-year olds being hauled down the Police Station, interviewed, brought to Court and fined for not having an ID Card!

At least it should provide some entertaining Court news. I look forward to the transcripts now:

Why not implant (embed) an id chip and have done with it.

Yes, I like the chip idea. Since they never did get around to the plan of implanting chips in stray dogs (although it begs reason why you would want to keep track of stray dogs), there must be a lot of chips around that could be used on kids.

Sounds as if there is an opportunity here for an increase in the price of disposable nappies, after all the cost of producing these items with a pocket for ID cards wouldn't be 'dirt' cheap!

Once they have a chance to really get to the bottom of their idea, they will learn that it's a real Shitty one.

Revised ID Card Act to be submitted to Cabinet meeting today

Director-General of the Department of Provincial Administration proposes the revised Identification Cards Act to the Cabinet meeting today (June, 26th) for approval before forwarding it to the National Legislative Assembly (NLA). The director expresses confidence that the Act will help prevent fraud identification cards.

Director-General of the Department of Provincial Administration, Charnchai Sunthornmat (ชาญชัย สุนทรมัฎฐ์) says the revised version of the Act which will be submitted to the Cabinet today was amended by the Council of the State. It requires Thai nationals older than one year old, instead of 15, to have an identification card which expires when the card holder are 70 years of age.

In addition, the department added more punishments in the Act for state officials who are involved in the production of fraud identification cards.

The director says he is confident that the revised Act can resolve the problem of fraud identification cards and help the authority keep tracks of the citizens.

It's hard to keep track of those pre Kindergarten types. They may have a cookie coup or protest for better smelling Care powder...LOL Isn't there anything more pressing the government could do with all their idle time? You couldn't think this stuff up for April 1.

Here in Malaysia we have been looking at RFID tags for children to wear when visiting the Mall.

You rent the card for a small sum when you arrive.

Then if the child goes missing they can easily be found within the Mall.

Children leaving the Mall with the id card also set off an alarm.

Take that one step further and put the chip under the skin..........

Greater safety for children,

and a massive outcry from human rights advocates??
