Modifying Pickup Suspension for Heavier Load

Featured Replies

I am looking to buy with a ranger xl, or a bt-50 high rider.

I need to carry 700kg

Do i need to add a couple of extra leaf springs? What is the usual cost for modification. It seems the higher spec second hand trucks dont have these mods as the work trucks do, as you would expect.

So just trying to figture out the method and cost of modification - thanks

You don't need to modify anything.  Just chuck the weight in the back of the truck.  It is what the truck was designed for.

You may need to increase tyre pressures.  The owner's manual will cover this.

From a BT-50 review;

The Double Cab has a maximum gross payload of 1175kg.

The Single Cab has a maximum payload of 1250kg with four-wheel drive or 1170kg with two wheel drive.
