OzMan
Anybody know how to make a collect call to Canada? What number do I dial from Bangkok to reach the relevant operator. My mobile account is with AIS. Thanks.

OzMan
Thanks Scubascuba3. I also just spoke with AIS help desk, they do not offer a collect call service.
Popular Post shdmn
In this day and age I don't understand why anyone would use a local phone company to make long distance calls. I call the US/Canada quite often, talk for hours, sometimes on hold for hours, and I pay absolutely nothing. I use Google Voice and it works great. A service like Skype is a little easier to set up if you don't have a US cell phone number and very cheap. Lots and lots of other VoIP services as well. Paying the phone company maybe 10x more (at a minimum) or trying to get around it making collect calls is just nuts in 2022. OzMan
I just downloaded Skype. It seems to me that to call someone using Skype, they also need to use Skype. Since it is my bank branch am phoning, I doubt they use Skype.

You need to top up, something like $10 then you can call anyone with a telephone number. I use it regularly for UK calls

You know that AIS offers B3 per minute calls to Canada with their 00500 prefix?

If your bank has an 800 number, there is no charge to call it using Skype. 2

But, you need Skype credits or a paid subscription to call other landline or mobile numbers. I pay $2.99 a month for unlimited minutes for calls to the US. swm59nj
You will need to use a service that you can make a direct call. A bank is not going to accept collect calls. As most other businesses

As most other businesses My banks offer a special number for collect calls and it works. Been doing it for decades. It is mostly for people who can not access 800 toll free. Lol it did until it was discontinued in 2014. anyway I don't imagine that the OP's bank would be willing to set up an account on any platform just to hear from him. Skype routes the cal over the internet to the nearest local land line provider and you only pay for the local call, extremely cheap. Cents, not dollars, if anything at all.... If you regularly call specific countries there are subscriptions for a few dollars that mean there are no extra costs.
