Football - In last night's UEFA Champions League games there were good wins in Group E for Chelsea who beat AC Milan 3-0 and FC Red Bull Salzburg who won 1-0 against Dinamo Zagreb. In Group F, Real Madrid won 2-1 against Shakhtar Donetsk, but Glasgow Celtic were beaten 3-1 at RB Leipzig. In Group G, Manchester City hammered FC Copenhagen 5-0 and Borussia Dortmund won 4-1 in Spain at Sevilla. Juventus beat Maccabi Haifa 3-1 in Group H but PSG were held to a 1-1 draw at Benfica.

 

Ukraine has joined Spain and Portugal's bid to host the 2030 Fifa World Cup. Representatives of the Spanish, Portuguese and Ukrainian football associations confirmed their plans at Uefa's headquarters yesterday. Spain and Portugal originally announced a joint bid in June 2021.

 

MLB - Aaron Judge of the New York Yankees has set a new American League record with his 62nd home run of the season.

 

The 30 year old outfielder, passed the 61-year-old single-season mark set by another Yankee, Roger Maris, in the first inning away to the Texas Rangers.

 

Barry Bonds of the San Francisco Giants has the overall MLB record of 73, set in 2001 in the National League.
