BANGKOK (NNT) - Security agencies in Thailand are now preparing security measures for the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week (AELW), where leaders from Asia-Pacific economies will be convening in Thailand.

The Royal Thai Armed Forces are ready to provide security when APEC leaders and delegates meet on 16-18 November.

Chief of Defence Forces Gen Chalermpol Srisawat said the armed forces and the police have set up security protocols for leaders, which will become active once their planes enter Thailand’s skies.

He said the intelligence information obtained from the Royal Thai Police shows no signal of any potential threats.

The armed forces chief also dismissed a report of an incident being planned by a minority group, saying these people are more likely to express their ideology as opposed to inflicting violence.
