Classical sharia (Law vs gospel) is a complete public law (crime, family, speech, war, tax). Apostasy and blasphemy (and they do love now the blasphemy laws). Mainstream classical fiqh treats leaving Islam and insulting the Prophet as crimes, often capital in theory. A Christian-heritage West treats exit from religion and satire as rights. Those two cannot both be the public rule. Equality before the law. Dhimma and traditional fiqh grade rights by religion and sex (testimony, inheritance, diya, office). Liberal Christian-derived constitutions say one law for citizen. Women and family. Polygyny, male guardianship, unequal divorce and inheritance, and in some schools child-marriage ceilings, collide with monogamy, equal custody and age-of-consent law. Speech. The West treats criticism of Jesus, the Church and the Bible as normal. Large parts of the Muslim world treat criticism of Muhammad or the Qur’an as violence. They kill for cartoons. Source of sovereignty. “No law but Allah’s” (hakimiyya) is a live political slogan. Umrah vs nation. The umma is a transnational religious-political body. Sharia first, passport second, is the integration failure, not “racism.” Jihad and the infidel. Classical doctrine divides the world into dar al-Islam and dar al-harb and treats jihad as a communal duty under conditions. Demography plus parallel society. Compatibility is not only texts. Where numbers and mosques grow faster than assimilation, you get no-go policing, grooming scandals, honour violence and blasphemy mobs. Reform has no pope. Christianity had Luther, Locke and Vatican II inside its own house. Sunni Islam has no equivalent magisterium that can retire apostasy law or dhimma. “Moderate Islam” is a social truce, not a settled theology.
