Pattaya, Thailand-Several concerned citizens have reached out to The Pattaya News recently to highlight the condition of a wooden “boardwalk” area of the beach.

The area in question is directly across from the Mike Shopping Mall on Pattaya Beach.

This particular area, according to local residents, has long had issues despite multiple temporary repairs to attempt to resolve the problems.

In typical Thai fashion, they wont do anything to fix it until someone falls through it and breaks their ankle.

Not my job. Not my problem.

Needed repairing a couple years ago, worse now, need to replace the wood with maybe concrete, like they did at a similar area along Bali Hai

Expected as they do everything on the cheap around here. Made from 1" and 2" by fastened with wood screws. Instead of heavy timber like everywhere else. Bali hi? Last time I was out there those  ceramic planks were breaking up.IMG20221018072524.thumb.jpg.1e7c4c7d91f937dbb0df79b924204a84.jpg

At Bali Hai they had similar cheap wood planks that fell apart, fixed it once, fell apart, then just removed totally leaving cement which works fine

Living in Pattaya I think one gives up the right to complain about anything. Of course the irony is it's a city full of foreign whingers.

Beach Rd. Has been under construction for nearly thirty years.

Has anything ever been fixed with purpose and correctly?

The annual floods, the annual laff.

The city government is a total sink hole.

The boards should be renewed as frequently as the sand - at least twice a year.

The funds that were supposed to be used to fix it somehow, by mistake, were sent to a local official's grandmother's bank account, and somehow, by mistake, they bought three rai of land, a new house and a new pickup truck. Then another mistake happened and the money was accidentally used to order three gold chains.

When these boardwalks were being installed, and the lack of maintenance with most things. This was a matter of time before this would happen.

Once your leg is cut going thru the board, and difficult to remove.  Then you have another problem.....   The rats that live under the boardwalk  !!!

It's a classic beach walk look... cost thousands to get it looking like that.

Oh ye of little faith.

That is not true.

The Mayor or his Deputy, or maybe both, will be there at first light in the morning promising to have if repaired by Nov. 19th. 2032.

I wonder why they can't add some seating areas to the northern part of the walkway? There is a desperate need for it.

What do you expect from a corrupt third world county?

The whole "boardwalk" is maybe 9 meters long....used to have a railing as well.  Best solution - take it out.  Keep the damn motorcycles and bicycles off the promenade.  Thank you, I give simple easy answers to all of Pattaya's problems   55555
