Solo political activist Srisuwan Janya was physically attacked this morning (Tuesday), as he was giving an interview to the media, while he was at the office of Technology Crime Suppression Division (TCSD) to lodge a complaint against Udom Taephanich, a stand-up comedian well known for his comedy series “Deaw 1-13”.

 

The attacker approached Srisuwan and started punching and kicking him. Police among the crowd of reporters intervened and managed to separate the two men.

 

The assailant later told the media that his attack on Srisuwan was meant to teach him a lesson, in response to his penchant for filing complaints on almost every issue against various people “indiscriminately”.

Some more crime to suppress as the other stand up comedians the police were nowhere to be seen ???? 

There needs to be a restraining order put on him and he not be allowed within 200 meters of any police station. Nor should he be allowed to use the phone to call any official numbers. He's a nut job, serial complainer who is wasting time. 

The attacker seems to have become quite the hero for many Thais ???? 

It seems a little too easy to file legal complaints against others in Thailand. I was thinking today that the courts and legal system must be huge.

Srisuwan: How dare you say that! I will now go down to the local clink and file charges against you for defaming Thailand. 

He earned it...... You can't prosecute everyone who says something that is against the current Government or politicians...

The man has done some good things over the years, and has been a pain in the a$$ to the current government and unelected PM - which is not a bad thing at all (IMO).

 

Many of his petitions have led to improvements in people’s lives, including one against environmental pollution affecting residents living near Map Ta Phut Industrial Estate in Rayong province.

 

When the NCPO was in power after the 2014 military coup, Srisuwan filed numerous complaints against its members and associates. In return, he was regularly summoned by the junta for “attitude adjustment”.

 

Just before the last general election in 2019, Srisuwan took on Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha, asking the Ombudsman to rule whether the then-junta leader was qualified to be a prime ministerial candidate.

 

He also asked the NACC to investigate Prayut’s brother Gen Preecha, then Defence Ministry permanent secretary, for failing to declare a mansion under construction in his assets report filed with the anti-graft agency.

AFTER Mr. Weerawit Rungruengsiriphon, or Uncle Sak, 62, punched up Mr. Srisuwan Chanya, secretary-general of the Association for the Protection of the Thai Constitution, in front of the media at the Central Investigation Bureau headquarters today (Oct. 18) he later said a lot of people donated money to help him with legal trouble, Matichon newspaper said.

 

Just as Srisuwan was telling the media in front of the police headquarters that he is going ask the police to investigate Mr. Udom Taepanich, or Nos, who runs the solo talk show Microphone 13 for allegedly mocking the government, Weerawit, a member of the Red Shirt Sakdina Group against Dictatorship and operator of Sakdina Red Shirts channel, walked up and punched and kicked him.

 

Srisuwan’s driver then held Weerawit in a neck hold and only released him after woman there pulled his hair and warned him that he is 62 years old.

Sure, violence is not needed but this guy does, as mentioned, file suits and complaints continuously, often for very simple unimportant matters. 

I'm surprised 15 win taxi riders did'nt jump into the fray and give him a good Thai workover! One on one seems a bit unfair!

Yes, he has filed a few reasonable complaints but they are the exception rather than the norm now. For every 20 or so frivolous complaints filed against those who do not support the current regime, their lackeys, etc, he'll file one against those in power. It's almost as if it is a token gesture to show he is not biased, which is <deleted> - as can be seen by his latest charges against a Thai comedian for disparaging the government, claiming it may damage state security.
