Football - In last night's football in the EPL Crystal Palace beat managerless Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-1 and Brighton and Nottingham Forest drew 0-0 in Spain's La Liga third placed Atletico Madrid were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Rayo Vallecano.

 

Liverpool's Portugal forward Diogo Jota has been ruled out of the World Cup with a calf injury, according to Reds manager Jurgen Klopp.The 25-year-old was taken off on a stretcher in the final moments of his side's 1-0 Premier League win against Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday and could be sidelined for a few months.

 

Also out of Qatar 2022 is  Newcastle United's record signing Alexander Isak. The forward picked up the thigh problem during training with Sweden in the September international break.French international and Chelsea midfielder N'golo Kante will miss out as well as he has a hamstring operation.

 

Cricket - A hat-trick from spinner Karthik Meiyappan was not enough for the United Arab Emirates as they were beaten by Sri Lanka at the Men's T20 World Cup.  Sri Lanka finished on 152-8. But the UAE were all out for 73 to slip to a 79-run defeat that sees them all-but eliminated.


Sri Lanka now need a big win against the Netherlands in their final game to qualify for the next stage.
