Thai social media was talking about a drug bust in Nonthaburi in which hundreds of kilos of ice, heroin and ketamine were found in a vehicle.

 

But despite the big bust it was the registration plates that were of great interest. 

 

The vehicle was fitted with a remote that could change the rear plate in under 3 seconds to fool police. It revolved.

Pol Maj-Gen Achayon Kraithong, police spokesman, said that the bust was on the orders of Pol Gen Damrongsak Kittipraphat, RTP chief.

 

Three arrests were made.

 

Regarding the revolving plate there will be a stepping up of checks in the future.

 

And the RTP issued a stern warning about copycats after much chitchat on social media:

 

Having such a device on your car could mean 5 years in jail, reported Siam Rath.

There's a Youtube tutorial on how to install them.

Didn't the Transporter Jason Statham have them as well....transporting drugs etc....Bond might be to old for these kids.

Such an installation is not necessary at all. There are thousands driving around with faded license plates that are no longer readable.

well...why show it?

i would tend to agree. It is safer to drive without a plate or with a faded plate. Noone seems to care about those. Hmm...

SIL got fined for that, still got the same unreadable plates on
