World faces most dangerous decade since WW2 - Putin

Featured Replies

Vladimir Putin - Wikipedia

The world faces "probably the most dangerous" decade since the end of World War Two, Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned.

In a wide-ranging speech on Thursday, he sought to justify Russia's invasion of Ukraine, a move that has left his country internationally isolated.

Mr Putin also accused the West of nuclear blackmail against Russia to force allies to turn away from Moscow.

The Valdai speech is usually (every year) addressed to the leaders of other countries.
Many people can't figure out why even Thailand prefer being "neutral" regarding to the war in Ukraine. There should be something alluring that is being offered from the other side of the conflict. IMHO, this is exactly what Putin did throughout his entire propaganda speech. Since Kremlin propaganda is prohibited in the Western media, you will not know anything from what was said there.

"No Borscht for you Vlad"...

Thank you for this. So we can analyze it as an interesting propaganda weapon detonated in this current war.
Let's say you are a typical leader of Gorilla-de-Cocos independent state in Africa(or Pacific Ocean) that came to the Valdai forum. What do you want from your life? Is there anything that can transform you into a desperate fighter which is ready to die supporting Putin?
Putin has seen already how millions of Ukrainians selflessly fight and die for the independence of their state. And what about you, the honored leader of Gorilla-de-Cocos? How's YOUR fight for independence? Wait wait wait... Gorilla-de-Cocos is INDEPENDENT state ALREADY! So there is nothing to fight for, right? Putin gently disagreed:
"[The West] denies the sovereignty of countries and peoples, their originality and uniqueness, does not put the interests of other states in anything" ; "...the Western model of globalization, neo-colonial in its essence" etc
In another words it is like saying "Hey, the leader of Gorilla-de-Cocos independent state, you are in fact a part of neo-colonial world since 1991, you are a colony of the West. And as a colony in neo-colonial world you should dream of freedom from your metropoly and fight with the west even more selflessly than Ukraine does for its own independence".

To make more drama, Putin tried to make you, the leader of Gorilla-de-Cocos, feel offended by the West. To accomplish that he said that the West "tsap-scratch – pocketed our[Russian] gold and foreign exchange reserves". Putin is sure that most of the other leaders of so called "the rest of the World" have ever been in a similar situation and that would press their old calluses.

Ok, he got a crowd of angry leaders of different countries. A good time to tell them what to do. Of course they should just support Russia to restore the global balance of power and return to the old world order when the leaders had real independence:
"The collapse of the Soviet Union also destroyed the balance of geopolitical forces. The West felt like a winner and proclaimed a unipolar world order in which only its will, its culture, its interests had the right to exist."

Then, In Putin sweet dreams, all the world leaders stood up and said: "We support efforts of Putin to restore the Soviet Union in Ukraine because that would restore "the balance of geopolitical forces" and we all become true independent leaders rather than colonial administrators in the current neo-colonial world".

Of course Putin gave them some arguments to make it easier to defend Russia if they encounter a western journalist asking inconvenient questions :

Well basically yes that's exactly what he's done. In addition whats notable in his influence in those countries is the generally sketchy access to free media including internet so Putin's words are final without being challenged with any other source (at least to the population). The propaganda and lies can disseminate freely. His message to Gorilla-de-Cocos and the like was let us stop being enemies, let us live together as friends, let us engage in dialogue, let us build trust while at the same time Putin in the real world is doing the opposite and invading another sovereign country with blatant lies and war crimes.

I'm a believer that it's better to actually listen to the entire speech than to read a very short, MSM synopsis (in this case BBC)  written to construct their own narrative using a limited number of quotes from Putin's Valdai Discussion Club speech.
Their article can be read in about 3 minutes.  Putin's speech is 43 minutes.  If you want to understand someone, even if you consider them to be your personal enemy, then take the time to listen to them.

Listen to the entire speech then draw your own conclusion instead of depending on the main-stream media to paint a conclusion for you.  Here's the link on Youtube:

Observe his actions and you'll learn a lot more than any speech.
