(CNN)  — Chief Justice John Roberts agreed to temporarily put on hold a lower court order requiring the release of former President Donald Trump’s tax returns by the Internal Revenue Service to a Democratic-led House committee.

The tax returns had been set to be turned over to the House Ways and Means Committee later this week.

Roberts asked for a response by November 10. The “administrative stay” is temporary in nature and does not always reflect the final disposition of the dispute.

and given the likely takeover of the house by the GOP in a few days time, it may all just go away quietly.

Certainly looking good for the GOP and they might even win back the senate. Fingers crossed.

This only has to do with the House Ways and Means Committee's request.  All other Trump investigations ongoing with the NY AG, SDNY, Georgia, DOJ, Mar-a-Lago, etc. will continue undisturbed.  But yes, any congressional investigations (e.g., J6 committee) will go away in Jan 2023 if the GOP wins back the House.

A LOT of people will be on tenterhooks for the next 4 or 5 days, including myself.
