A new bill, ‘The progressive liquor bill’ aimed at easing restrictions on that industry was narrowly rejected by MPs yesterday, however the Move Forward Party says it will continue with its aims to open the sector to competition. 


The bill lost by just 2 votes, 196 to 194.

 

Thai democrat party has threatened to scrap the Cannabis and Hemp Bill and push to completely make cannabis illegal again by labeling it as a category 5 narcotic.


Democrats want amendments  that would reclassify cannabis  as a narcotic, and it’s use for medical purposes in households, also to restrict use for recreational purposes.


Meanwhile supporters said the bill should become effective as quickly as possible.

 

The department of health has dismissed a claim by some rural doctors who say mext years budget to study the medicinal effects from cannabis had been cut.


The government claims the budgets have not been cut and research will continue next year as it has for more than 20 years, an investigation has been launched into the rural doctors claims.

 

Thailand's national chief of police publicly insisted there are no illegal gambling dens in Bangkok.


However a group of local gamblers claimed there are more than 100 gambling places that operate in secret in the capital, many said they had been swindled out of money, and some physically abused.   

 
The Dutch government will partly resume its programme of adopting children from several Asian countries including Thailand after a break of almost 2 years. 


Adoptions were put on hold after it found some children had been stolen or payment had been made to parents, some children who had grown up found their documents had been forged or lost.
