BANGKOK, Nov 4 (TNA) – Police will close Ratchadaphisek Road in front of the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center and its MRT station from Nov 16 to 19 to facilitate the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit.

National police chief Damrongsak Kittiprapas said the cabinet approved special holidays from Nov 16 to 18 in Bangkok, Nonthaburi and Samut Prakan and would also impose the holidays on the private sector and schools.

Meanwhile, the police would close Ratchadaphisek Road in front of the convention center and the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center MRT station from Nov 16 to 19 for safety sake.

So how will those folks who are going to the Summit and QSNCC who are using the MRT or work in the Hotels across the road or even visit Benjakitti Park supposed to get to work unless they walk from Asok/Sukhumvit or Klong Toei......ludicrous.  SO if I needed to get to Medpark, I could not exit the Queen Sirikit MRT Stations but would have to either walk from Klong Toei or Asoke/Sukhumvit......NIce planning.  Why not just close the road for ingress and egress for the times the summit is actually in attendance.

Read the link: "Six shuttle buses would be deployed to serve the people who lived or worked in the area, Pol Gen Damrongsak said."

I'd like to see the MRT opened during the day/evening when the conference is not in session.  You know they'll close up Talk  at 5PM and yet everybody will still be still be inconvenienced.

Should open the MRT station after the conference let's out for the evening. You know from 6PM till MRT stop time.

......"police closes ...... the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center MRT station from Nov 16 to 19 for safety sake".......

Well, if the conference would be for the better of the people those "politicians" represent, then you would not need any concerns related to safety.

Without closing entire Bangkok for three days (holidays paid by the private industry) and make life for those in the area miserable again; the bigwigs could have moved entire roadshow to IMPACT Exhibition and Conference Centre with absolutely no hinderance to the Thai public. But yes, then the limelight effect would have been gone and the government could not blow its own huge trumpet!
