Loy Krathong revellers are warned not to fire guns into the air, otherwise they could face heavy penalties, ranging from five years in prison and/or a fine of up to 10,000 baht on conviction. The penalties increase to 10 years in prison and a 200,000 baht fine if a falling bullet causes death, said spokesman of the Royal Thai Police, Pol Maj-Gen Archayon Kraithong.

He also said that, if a falling bullet causes serious injury, the penalties will be three years in prison and/or a fine of 60,000 baht on conviction.

Police across the country have been instructed to enforce the law strictly on the illegal carrying of firearms in public and on the discharging of firearms on Loy Krathong.

There are some that always take it one step father.

drunken or egotistic RTP would never be the ones who fire their guns indiscriminately into the air during revelry....

I remember that the PNP in Manila had their triggers taped up for new year to avoid accidental discharges while drunk.....
