Thai media reported that two major fires hit factories on the outskirts of Bangkok yesterday afternoon/evening.

Thai Rath reported ongoing efforts to tackle a blaze at the Aerosoft shoe factory on the Bang Na - Trad highway at KM marker 16 outbound.

The fire started around 5 pm and at 6.30 pm was still raging as fears grew of a collapse of the factory building that was saturated by water.

Outbound traffic was severely affected though inbound it was still moving. It was the rush hour.

By 6.55 pm the fire was still out of control though there were no reports of injuries or death.

Aerosoft were the sponsors of the latest  Euros football tournament for which they paid 310 million baht for the TV rights, notes ASEAN NOW.

The other fire was reported on by Siam Rath and occurred at the Betterview furniture factory in Bang Kruay, Nonthaburi.

The fire started after electrical work to replace light fittings and was fueled by the furniture stored there.

Millions of baht in damage was caused.

Security at the factory said employees had gone home and there were only 5-6 people there at the time and there were no injuries.

Staff had tried to tackle the fire before failing to control it at 3 pm yesterday afternoon.

Forensic investigators were on the scene beginning an investigation.
