Aggregate Exterior Flooring

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Can anyone suggest where to find an aggregate concrete (or epoxy) floor coating for exterior concrete surfaces (like pool decks, porch, etc)?  Similar to the pool deck in the photo attached here.

I'd like to do this myself, but having trouble locating a product to use for it.

Thanks!

T.

You need to look for experts in sand wash, I doubt that you will find anyone to do an epoxy floor or the conditions to allow epoxy on the scale you are envisioning. However there are sand wash experts though you need to see several examples of the work they do.

Thanks... yes, sandwash is what I was looking for.  It looks like TOA makes a sandwash sealant.  Perhaps that improves durability?

The sealant won't improve its structural durability (susceptibility to cracks or general water permeability) as compared to tile.

IMHO, there's no any advantage to sandwash over tile other than the price.

You might as well would want to take advantage of the superior material (tile) since the local cost of labor and the tile itself is so much more affordable as compared to the West.

If you're concerned with having a non-slippery surface...

There's a big selection of locally produced Non-slip tiles in various Non-slip R-** grades and designs.
