Thailand, the host of the 2022 Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), was left high and dry yesterday after the goliath in the north – China, stole the limelight of the conference within hours after its president made his 1st visit to the country.

The all-powerful first 3rd term ‘elected’ President of China – Xi Jinping, issued a statement within minutes after he landed in Bangkok to attend the APEC summit that ends tomorrow.

The statement by the Chinese President called on the APEC region to be a block that focuses on economic development and not be someone’s backyard and should not be an arena for big power to contest their turf.

“The Asia Pacific is no one’s backyard and should not become an arena for big power contest. No attempt to wage a cold war will ever be allowed by the people or by our times,” Xi said in a statement issued within hours after his Boeing 747 landed at Don Muang airport late yesterday.

Translation: “We don’t need any competition.”

He could have been clearer and said 'not in my back yard'......because that's what he meant.

Well Prayut’s hardly going to say anything like that is he. For a start he wouldn’t be so bold and he probably doesn’t even know where the Asia-Pacific region is.

"Heel prayut..thats a good boy" while scratching hime behind his ear

Really. But China can claim that the entire South China Sea as belonging to them, lay claim to a bunch of rocky islands way away from their coast and constantly encroach into other countries' waters and airspace (ask the Malaysians and Filipinos, for a start).

Cha -Cha does know where the Asia-Pacific region is. It is somewhere near Thailand, the centre of the universe. All Asia-Pacific countries speak Thai as their first, universal language.????????

When Xi speaks, people sit up and listen more closely than when any of the hollow Western windbags say their piece.

I particularly enjoyed his exchange with that arrogant puppy Trudeau, when Xi sent Trudeau tottering away like a whipped soi dog.

Well said but unfortunately 'big power' never learnt from its previous disasters in the region or elsewhere.

Not withstanding his frequently declared  intention to wage war on Taiwan in the near future.

Another megalomaniac the world would be safer without.

Interesting photo. Xi and his wife arriving at DMK without masks to be met by all the Thai officials wearing masks. Similar situation when I arrived at DMK with Air Asia from Siem Reap a week ago. Myself and many other passengers were mask-less whilst all the Thai airport officials wore masks. We were not told to wear a mask. The only time I was asked to wear a mask was when I boarded a train to Chiang Mai from DMK. During my one week holiday in "country bumpkin" Provinces I never wore a mask until boarding a bus back to DMK.

Is Mr. P standing on a box d'ya think?

Look at Prayut all puffed up like  a song bird on heat.

Was Prayut the only one Xi did not shake hands with....now that's a snub.
