THE police drive against illegal gambling on the 22nd Fifa World Cup matches over the eight days since the tournament started last Sunday (Nov. 20) has so far netted 3,178 punters, bookmakers and bet receivers, Matichon newspaper said.

 

Yesterday 620 gambling suspects were rounded up in an offline sweep and among them were six bookmakers and 314 punters while an online drive netted another 33 punters adding up to 653.

 

Also seized were 353 betting tickets worth 108,105 baht and 2,900 baht in cash adding up to 111,005 baht.

So all the cops managed was Thb 111K?.....how many cops were involved?

Where do these bookies and punters hang out in order to get arrested? There are no betting shops, so private premises?

More nonsense being spouted by the Police. These figures do not make sense.

The question now becomes how many cops were paid to look the other way and let offenders just leave?  THB 111k is nothing.  These raids usually confiscate millions of baht.

Yes, but this raid involved only off line betting I think.

So how is it that horse racing , chicken cock fighting and the lottery are OK to gamble on but not football ?  Can only be that it is just another easy  way to fine gamblers and line the pockets of the police ? 

 BTW any news on the proposed casinos for Thailand ?
