FORMER Palang Pracharat MP Pareena Kraikupt was sentenced to 16 months in jail but this suspended for two years for defaming the leader of a Khon Kaen activist group Mr. Atthaphon Buapat, or  Khruyai (head master), Naewna newspaper said this afternoon (Nov. 30).

Pareena, who has been deprived by court of her MP status and banned for life from politics due to deliberate encroachment upon a forest reserve in Ratchaburi, travelled to Khon Kaen provincial court together with Mr. Sira Jenjaka, also a former Palang Pracharath MP for Bangkok, and a lawyer.

The court took over an hour to read the verdict after which Pareena, Sira and her lawyer left for home without giving an interview to the press. However Sira briefly mentioned that he came along to support her.

More than likely something that was true.

Her rants and antics, even on Parliament floor, got her reputation of foul mouthed opinionated fool.
She cant be prosecuted for what she said within parliament sessions.
But for social media posts, which is the case, she can be sued.
That guy from khon khen is member of "end it within our generation" anti-feudalist group, part of pro democracy youth movement.
So it's surprising that court gave that sentence.
i could't find any details on the net what she said, but english translations of this case will appear today.
Interesting, that a thai politician, who accompanied pareena, was sentenced for fraud in criminal case and lost his seat in 2021. He was unlawfully elected in 2019 because he hide his past conviction. If that is support, which pareena was able to muster, it would be better off without this questionable politician.

Solly...

That women is my worst nightmare , think if you would have to wake up whit that ting every day.

What part of "whack a mole" does she not understand?

This made me laugh from the linked article…couldn’t happen to a nicer lady.

“Atthaphon, who leads the activist group “That’s Enough”, said the court found Pareena guilty of two counts of defamation by advertising, because she had posted the same message twice”
