Daily News Thai Caption: Hit and run

The niece of a man seriously injured after a hit and run has turned to the press after a police investigation has gone nowhere after 10 days.

She has appealed to a pick-up driver to own up after the family lost their main bread-winner.

The accident was caught on CCTV and happened at a T-junction operated by lights on the Sai Noi Ton Cheuak Road in Sai Noi, Nonthaburi, reported Daily News.

A man called Sanya, 48, was riding a motorcycle on his way to deliver red onions when he was hit head on by a Toyota pick-up that was turning right.

The man and his goods ended up all over the road after the accident at 4.12 am on November 23rd.

Sai Noi police have investigated but failed to find the hit and run driver.

Somporn Saijai, 41, a local authority worker said her uncle had been in hospital with a serious brain injury for ten days.

He is the bread-winner in the family looking after a wife, children and an 83 year old grandmother.

She said her uncle delivered onions every day in the early morning.

She asked why the driver had not stopped to help adding that if he had it would have been alright.

Now she wants the driver found and prosecuted to the full extent of the law saying that it appeared from the CCTV that the driver was responsible for the accident.

Cops too busy trying to work out how many points on the new system to award

I assume the CCTV was one of those special ones that ensure number plates can never be read and faces remain blurred......why? ......in this day and age are the images not razor sharp?

Too busy with their cellphones, and no time to investigate, but have time to escort busses, and other vehicles of important people or schools or government officials on holiday....But common people ... who cares? No money, no work... as when there was a burgerly in my house they couldn't do anything except when I paid them first...

What does she expect from a bunch of oxygen thieves. The only way she will get a win is to track down the hit run scumbag and drag him to the police station herself.

Why? Because no-one cares. Quite often the plates can't be read anyway or are non-existent. No-one in Thailand cares about anything if it doesn't directly concern them. It's their culture.

A good friend of mine who lived in a gated community with security at the entrance had his house broken into, and they found the keys to his SUV so took that too. The same day, the security guard disappeared. The police refused to investigate unless he paid them 100,000. Soon after, he quit Thailand and moved back to Australia and his Thai wife was all too happy to leave with him.

My brother-in-law is a policeman and I asked my wife what he actually does. She has no idea.

My house was broken in to last year and despite having a clear photo of one of the burglars and a many photos of a woman who I think later bought a stolen IP camera - I've heard nothing.

The guy (burglar) looks as dodgy as hell and is not a young man so he's probably been 'at it' for years and most likely has a criminal record.  Several local people say they've seen him around the area but can't quite place him so its more than likely that he's known to the police.  Just passing the phot around the station would probably have produced a result but I doubt even that's been done.

The police didn't visit my house, take any finger prints or a sample from several blood stains where the burgar (s) had cut themselves breaking in.

As far as I know, the most effort they've put in was to fill out the 'Police Report'.

Beg's the question - what do they actually do?

A further attempt at breaking in was made a couple of weeks ago (probably the same people) - thankfully the security measures I've put in place stopped them.

So how is the new points system going to help get bad drivers/riders off the road if plod can't find a pick-up with CCTV evidence.

If they can't find the pick-up who are they going to give points to?

She didn't pay the cops to investigate, that'a her problem.

Years ago in Phuket I had my wallet stolen by a Brit.  Not only did steal my wallet but he also stole car rental.  Both the owner and I went to report the crimes to the police together.  The car owner even had a copy of his passport.  All the cops had to do was notify immigration and he would have been stopped when exiting the country.   They did nada, zilch.  Wanted money to pick up the phone and notify immigration.  The car owner refused to pay so they did nothing.  We even had to pay for a copy of the police report.

The BIB is so corrupt, rotten to the core.  Everyone of them.  No exceptions.

He will probably come back with the BiB to sue you for this?
