Daily News Thai Caption: Chop up shock!

Daily News were at their sensational worst reporting on a frenzied attack by a wife on her husband.

Once again alcohol abuse as well as gambling addiction was at the heart of the sad story.

The wife waited until her husband had fallen asleep before chopping his head up dozens of times with a large knife.

Pol Lt (female) Wisupha Watcharasingh of the Thanyaburi constabulary, Pathum Thani, was called with medics and Poh Teck Tung rescue services to an aluminum kitchenware factory on the Rangsit to Nakhon Nayok Road in Klong 9 yesterday evening.

There in workers' accommodation they found Ole, 50 a Karen man lying face down in a pool of blood.

He had been attacked dozens of times about the head.

The assailant was his wife Manao, 50, also a Karen.

Household goods were lying scattered about and a bloodstained Itoh knife was taken into evidence.

It was discovered that the couple argued frequently. When her husband suffered gambling losses and his requests for money were refused he beat his wife.

He was further angered that she sent money to her child from a previous relationship.

The final straw came when his request for money was refused and he said he would dabble in the dark arts and put a hex on the wife and her child.

She waited until he slept before attacking his head with the knife.

Neighbors tried to intervene but it was too late to save the man.

The body was taken away for autopsy to Thammasat Hospital.

"He was further angered that she sent money to her child from a previous relationship"

this happens so many times, and the men can't handle it.

its like a pride of lions, when the new Leader wants to eradicate any relative of the previous ruler.

this sad situation will NEVER Change.

Karen is a funny name for a man?

Karen is referring to his ethnicity i think, but this act was a revenge pure and simple, she could have divorced him and walk away and still have her life to live, which now, she's facing lengthy prison time...

It's not so long that I learned what "a Karen" means in US colloquial language.

That the Karen are a hill tribe was in the news often enough ????

Is there evidence he beat her?

Apart from her saying he did.

Exactly. Why not just walk away? You have to wonder about someone who chooses instead to hack someone to death.

Battered wife syndrome.

The abused thinks that the violence was their fault.

The abused has an inability to place the responsibility for the violence elsewhere.

The abused fears for their life, and/or, the lives of loved ones whom the abuser might or has threatened to harm (e.g., children-in-common, close relatives, or friends).

The abused has an irrational belief that the abuser is omnipresent and omniscient.

You could ask the neighbours.

Photo of police possibly doing exactly that:

Very strange wording.  Likely he was only attacked once and I doubt she "chopped his head up" even once, let alone a dozen times.  Unless he was found with his entire head diced to complete mush.

Also strange that they don't bother to state clearly that he was dead, or at least put the "too late to save him" "body was taken away" earlier in the article.  Murder or death not clearly stated throughout the whole article.

Is that to make sure people scroll through the whole article for ads or something?
