CM World-Class Home Solar-Power Installer: Does one exist? Which?
Dear Folks, Just out of curiosity, but NOT out of IDLE curiosity…. Does anyone know if there is actually a world-class, Number One, top installer of solar-for-home located locally in Chiang Mai? Or not. I just want to know which, of a few companies, might be the most reliable solar-power installer, for home, in this area. If I were in China, then I would be able to find a few companies which might be considered world-class. But, in Chiang Mai…. REALLY? Still, there must be one here in Chiang Mai which is heads-and-shoulders above the rest. If this is the case, then does anyone know which company this might be? The thing is, I do not really care about saving money on power. Far from it. My motivation for evaluating the possibility of installing a solar power system in my house is just to regain some semblance of STABILITY in the power supply to my house. Nobody but me cares about this, obviously. Therefore, now, I am thinking of taking the Bull by the Horns, and I am thinking that IF I want stable power to my house….then….I need to just supply it…MYSELF. I might need to financially splurge a bit, and install some system which I can control myself. I am now unable to tolerate the many power outages that are happening around herem, and just getting more frequent. There is always a good excuse from the local power company. But, no matter how wonderful the excuses might be, they do not satisfy me. I need stable power. This is all I am asking. I could opt for a diesel power generator, maybe. But these are just TOO noisy. There is really no other option, unless one might wish to move to a better location, where the power just “MIGHT” be more stable. So…IF one were to make the effort here to ensure stable electric power supply, then it really must come from the SUN. Which company is best? Which company has a proven track record? This is really not the option I would choose. I would prefer to just use the local power company to supply STABLE power to my house. But, it seems, this is not an option. No doubt, many others here have been thinking the same thing. There must be a local company that can do a great job, for a very fair price? (Yes/No?) Any thoughts? Tks. Gamma Note: The best solution would be, at least for me, to have a much more stable deliver of electric power to my home, from the local grid. Unfortunately, I now realize that this is just a Dream too Far.... -

I’ve read your posts about Colombia and watched the video you shared about that apartment complex in the city you’re recommending. But I’m curious, have you actually been to Colombia or spent any amount of time there, or is this just anecdotal information you’ve picked up and are passing along? I don’t mean to sound judgmental, and I admit I haven’t been there myself, but my understanding is that it’s still a pretty dangerous country in many ways. Robberies seem to be common, and the crime can be physically violent, especially when someone wants something from you. That said, I’ve been curious about Colombia myself. I’ve heard good things about the people, the food, climate, and I’ve met some really nice Colombians. But I think there are still a lot of downsides to living there, and it’s not as straightforward as just low cost-of-living. Sure, it’s affordable, but so are other places like Cambodia, Vietnam, Philippines, Indonesia, Ecuador, Mexico, etc, but I wouldn’t want to live in any of those places either. Unless you’re in one of the major cities in Colombia, you’re probably quite limited in terms of shopping and food choices, availability of imported goods, general lifestyle options, reliability of services, internet, and so on. And while the big cities do offer more variety, they’re also where the risks can be highest in terms of crime. On the other hand, the more remote areas might be safer, but they also risk being boring or too limited, even if they’re cheap and have a decent climate. And realistically, if you want to come and go from the country, you still have to go through those big, dangerous cities anyway. If you’re seriously suggesting Colombia as a place to live, I’d recommend digging a little deeper into the realities on the ground. There’s a guy on YouTube with a channel called "Life with David", an American with Latino roots who moved to Colombia and has been living there for a while. He’s posted a lot of very straight-up videos about life there, and he doesn’t shy away from talking about the dangers. After watching a few of his videos, I came away feeling like it’s a very edgy place to live, which kind of cooled my interest. You could probably find a similar quality of life in Spain, for example, but without all the risk. You’d be in Europe, with better infrastructure, reliable healthcare, solid services, and a more stable environment overall. Probably a better long-term option than Colombia. -

Well, I saved 100 Quid , but the main reasons why I used an agent is because I could get a flight from Chiang Rai to London and the whole flights guaranteed , if booked through an airline then I would have to buy two individual tickets and if the flight to BKK is delayed and I miss the flight to London, then I would lose the flight . Also, I didn't really trust Turkmenistan's website , the flight fare was quoted as being 961,00 $ . although I expect they mean 961 000 Manat (18 000 Baht). -
