A PULMONARY disease expert said in a Facebook post this morning (Dec. 12) that Thailand has to watch what Covid-19 strain is spreading in India because the same variant usually comes here with the one currently taking hold there being XBB, Sanook.com said.

 

Dr. Manoon Leechawengwong, who is based at Vichaiyut Hospital, said the Delta variant was first discovered in India late 2020 after which it spread globally with Thailand suffering from a big Delta wave in the middle of 2021.

 

In June this year India was among the countries where the BA.2.75 Covid subspecies was first identified and it then replaced BA.5 as the dominant strain there. After that this strain spread to many countries including Thailand where it set off a new Covid wave.

Everyone should continue to take precautions and preventative measures including wearing face mask in public areas which are populated and wash and spray hands continiously.

 

From recent deaths in Korat,  the COVID-19 virus is still prevelant and can kill anyone who may be susceptible.

To think otherwise is very fool hardy and irresponsible.   imo

OK, so let those susceptible to it stay in and the world get on with life - either that or destroy it again as masks and washing hands did not work well

To save the planet from it's selfish and destructive dominant species the virus needs to become much more lethal .

80 percent would be a good start. 

Hopefully this new variant will be just as weak and pathetic as Omicron. The subsequent variants seem to be getting less lethal and that is a good thing. May this trend continue.

I wonder if this new strain is in Thailand already? Some in my area are throwing -up and this is new.

aha ....  that doesn't sound good.   I suspect the new strain is here already, I mean Indians have been coming here week in week out now so there's nothing to say it's not here.

First turn off the T.V.......Never wear a mask, don't check your temperature, and no spraying your hands, and don't listen to any media fear mongering nonsense...

 

This will 100% kill any virus on the spot....

At some stage Thailand needs to learn to live with COVID in all it's forms. Europe and America have done so already. If you have a cold, then wear a mask, if you haven't got one why would you want to. 

I fail to comprehend why outside Thais are wondering around with masks on.

The Thai Chinese and other Chinese derivatives across Southeast Asia (even here in Singapore) love blaming anyone other than their own. They'll have nothing to say of the continuous wild spread in China, the deliberate China State cover-ups and dangers this poses. But, they are quick to jump at any opportunity to blame cast concern over India or Farang.

Antonio Gutteres put it right ... we are on the highway to ( climate ) hell with the foot pressed on the accelerator ... a more lethal form of the virus might save our species ( and the remaining intact natural ecosystems ) from extinction  . Human overpopulation kills the planet .

Covid has killed millions ut still a tiny fraction of the planet's population. Your comment is self evidently wrong. A version so lethal as to kill half the population would end economic life as we know it.
