NOT during an armed robbery, he shot an undercover drug agent, who was probably just staring at him for a little too long."What are you looking at? Do you know who I am?, kind of scenario. One of the most unsavory families in Thai politics, which is full of the dregs of Thai society.

He came back from Cambo, got re-appointed as a cop, and was appointed as a big poobah at the police shooting range.

Not making this up!

Chalerm's son Duangchalerm, shot a Policeman in a nightclub in RCA on October 29th 2001.

He fled to Malaysia after the shooting, in typically cowardly fashion.

He was in the Army, was stripped of his rank due to the incident after a court-martial found him guilty of fleeing a criminal investigation and going AWOL.

Surrendered himself in KL at the Thai Embassy 6-months later.

Acquitted in court due to conflicting witness testimony.

Reinstated by PM Samak (parts of the Thaksin good ol' boys network whom Chalerm was very much a part of).

Transferred from the Army to the Police when his father Chalerm was in charge of the Police.

Held Pol Lt. rank and was assigned to be a shooting instructor.

????

That alone should disqualify him. If merit, honor, family, nobility, character, honesty, and credibility meant anything here for a candidate. They don't. It is all about cash. Total corruption and breakdown of the system. Dinosaur stuff.
