Daily News reported on an event in the grounds of Mor Chit bus station in northern Bangkok yesterday when top cops led by RTP deputy Gen Torsak Sukhwimon announced a crackdown on New Year crime.

 

The general also assured the public of assistance and safety during the 30th December to 2nd January.

 

He expected many Thais to be on the move creating traffic problems and crime could increase.

For the first time The Transport Company - Borisat Khon Song - are playing a close role alongside the RTP and other agencies.

 

Their chief Sorapong Phaitoonpong said that safety of travellers was his #1 priority as well as protocols to prevent the spread of Covid.

 

He expected 50,000 travellers outbound and 40,000 inbound to Mor Chit on December 29/30th.

 

Coming back to the capital on 2nd and 3rd he expected 50-60,000 travellers.

The company would be on the lookout for staff drinking alcohol or taking drugs.

 

Company staff would be disciplined if found to be breaking rules and if done by affiliates contracts would be cancelled.

 

Any people found taking drugs would be handed over to the police.
