with over 5,000 legally registered shops many of which are selling illegally imported cannabis.

Ive dealt with only 3 shops.  Chit chatted with them, nice folks comfortable shops.  They all ended up showing me photos of the grows, one fellow took me upstairs to a grow. Good looking set ups, 3 meter by 4 meter rooms.
The shops had roughly 10 varieties, big jars, 1/2 kilo min. The maths don't add up. At all. I agree they are moving a lot of foreign herb.
Im ok with it, the local market has only been legal for 6 months. Hopefully in a year the country is swimming in it ????

  • No you don't.   The Plook Ganja app is optional until the bill that is (currently not) going through parliament is finalised and written into law.   Right now you can grow however

  • The issue with the import is that Thai customs are making a load of cash out of it, so are letting it through illegally. For whatever reason this backdooring is not being stopped when it could easily

RTP are desperate for cash at the moment. I've heard that they were in a neighbouring moo baan checking houses if they had licenses to grow.   No license it was an 'on the spot' fine.

Selling cannabis online has been very, very clearly banned - can I ask why you still do it?

There were actually a few important amendments made in the latest changes, and this both included vending machines, as well as electronic sales (which could include anything).

It was extremely vague, and we determined what they meant was "unlicensed" online sales, and unverified vending machine sales. This includes websites like Shopee, and Lazada which are unable to ensure the age/purpose of purchase. This has been a common issue among general e-shops in Thailand which have sellers selling age-restricted items without the means to ensure the age of the purchaser.  It was also mentioned that marketing was deemed illegal (we assume similar to the alcohol restrictions around marketing within Thailand, and this means no marketing platforms).

Also we have seen provinces recently approve placement of physical vending machines which have the means to verify the age of the purchaser through ID verification.

Similar legal online sellers like the following seem to have taken a similar understanding

  • PRIKPOT CO., LTD.
  • GREEN LAB CORPORATION CO., LTD
  • TROPICAL BLOOM CO., LTD.

We cannot speak for the other online retailers but we do the following for each medicinal sale:

  • Verify identity of each purchase
  • Confirm Age
  • Determine reason of purchase
  • VAT Reporting

All sale details will be reported to the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB) through their upcoming release of their digital system.

The final approved version of the law should be coming out in the next few months (as long as it is not further delayed). If they do indeed make all B2C online sales illegal then we will follow the law accordingly (including licensed online retailers).

From what we have seen majority of all shops are selling illegally imported cannabis ( this could be unintentional as well ). With the lack of regulation around source/origin of product, and laws around sale it makes complete sense why blackmarket Cannabis is making its way into the legal market.

Also this should have been quite obvious as there was an abundance of high quality cannabis available on the first day of deregulation.

This will change once there is a clear process from seed to sale (similar to other countries). We hope to see regulations which support the local farms, as well as lay a strong foundation for all legal shops trying to participate in the marketplace.

This is just going to create a massive black market.

Which has never left us, but has been taking huge profit hits lately...

I would like my wife to register for growing plants. She can't find where to register. Anyone can give a little guidance here?
