snoop1130
Image Credit: Chadchart Sittipunt’s Facebook Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt has been handed a “passing grade” by keen observers. However, the man who won the 2022 gubernatorial election by a record-breaking majority is expected to achieve much more. “His management style is good and modern,” Dr Stithorn Thananithichot, director for Innovation for Democracy at the King Prajadhipok’s Institute, said of the city governor. Stithorn reckons Chadchart certainly deserves praise, since he and his team’s enthusiasm and energy have successfully nudged the notoriously sluggish Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) into action, pushing officials to respond faster to emerging problems. Classic Ray
If the Governor wants to subsidise BTS fares to make them more affordable, he will have to raise local taxation revenue to pay for it. Maybe now is the time to legalise and tax gambling, including casinos, in the city, with sensible controls, and prevent the outflow of money to the death trap border casinos in Cambodia, and provide betting shops to allow legal means for Thais to indulge their love of football betting, again with suitable controls and taxation. The national lottery could be modernised using models like the U.K. National Lottery and Euromillions to provide improved revenue and money for charitable causes. Commercial property taxes, especially on entertainment venues, could be increased. Tax could be imposed on cannabis sales. These measures and others like them, carrot and stick, will increase tourism and local revenues and improve the funds available for subsidies.
billd766
quote from the OP "“His management style is good and modern,” Dr Stithorn Thananithichot, director for Innovation for Democracy at the King Prajadhipok’s Institute, said of the city governor." Just who is Dr Stithorn Thananithichot, and what does he actually do for a living? A director for Innovation for Democracy at the King Prajadhipok’s Institute, is his title but what does he actually do? Certainly nothing for the people of Bangkok, unlike Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt who actually goes out and meets the people, listens to them, and then does his best to fix their problems.
