Thai police have seized assets worth more than 230 million baht and arrested six key members of a major drug trafficking gang, allegedly responsible for smuggling narcotics from Laos through north-eastern Thailand into Bangkok and its suburbs.

Items seized include seven cars, nine land title deeds, nearly 5.8Kg of gold ornaments and bars, 1.3 million baht in cash, several brand name bags and wrist watches.

Pol Gen Chinnapat Sarasin, the deputy national police chief, said Tuesday that warrants have been issued for the arrests of nine members of the gang, six of whom have been arrested during raids in nine central and north-eastern provinces over the past two years.

Tip of the iceberg.

So were the 'gangsters' Thai or foreigners?

I read the article and it just mentions "Chatchai or “Ah <deleted>”

Who gets dibs on the cars?

I would imagine the cops who caught them. Isn't that how Ferrari Joe got his collection. Andrew Tate wannabes?

Any watches asking for a dead friend ????

The seemingly contradiction in the story are almost amusing.

Historically well known that the policing systems here key shareholders and movers among the higher and more influential drug mafias.

Kaching, kaching...the RTP looking to get their cut of the assets. Like vultures picking over the carcass of the drug lord.

To bad the dirty money and assets don't get assigned by the courts to be distributed amongst  deprived people who actually need financial support.

I often wonder what happens to all these seized assets?

Property, cars, money, possessions, where does it all go?

[Rhetorical question]

Bonanza Time for police.  They get to raid foreign mafias with impunity thus eliminating the opposition.

Yes there seems to be a lot of stories lately saying the BIB have arrested some gang or other along with a whole heap of goodies.  Maybe the BIB is conducting a campaign to rid themselves of opposition.  After all the traffic of all drugs is solely the BIB's right.
