I came on Turist visa, then covid extension, now border bounce to Cambodia.

Featured Replies

Norwegian passport holder, came in january 2022 on a turist visa, then did the extension 30 days at immigration.  After that i did the 2 month covid extension, 3 times.

Now i have done 2 visa bounce to Cambodia, both of them have i also extended at immigration. All of this was in 2022 and my extension on the last border bounce run out on february number 3.

Since it's a new year, i plan to do the border bounce to Cambodia again (Ban Pakkard) in february.

So my question is, will this be a problem now? Will the IO start to ask me why i stayed over a year without a proper visa?

Sorry for my english, it's not my first language.

And thanks for this great forum, alot of knowledge here.

As you know the rule is 2 land border entries visa exempt per calendar year so you should not have an issue.

Where are you located.

Have you considered Laos borders?

Maybe short break from Thailand rather than a bounce.

Thanks for your answer.  Yes, 2 land border entries per year, but when i did the extension in immigration in Jomtien, the English guy, who work for a visa company next to immigration, who took my photo copys, say that becouse i did the visa run's so close too the end of the year, they may not allow me another 45 days visa exempt..

Also last time at Ban Pakkard, the IO women, say that this is the last time i can do this, why, i dont know, becouse she think i will try to do another run in 2022?, not sure. But she did not speak much english, and when i said i can extend this exempt at immigration, she did not know what i was talking about, and have to get a male IO to explain, and he said i could offcorse extend at immigration. He did tho ask me why i stayd in Thailand so long.

I stay in Pattaya, so the Laos border is far from me..

All the Cambodian borders are iffy lately when it comes to long stayers on covid extensions/visa exemptions etc.

Speak to a couple of border run companies. Send them copies of your stamps over the last 12 months. They all have their immigration border contacts who they work with, so they'll tell you if it's possible. Don't attempt to do a Cambodian border run on your own.

Alternatively use the Laos borders which are far more friendly.

I agree with @mockingbird

It's not all that convenient but there are options from Pattaya other than Cambodia.

BIt left field but you could even consider flight to Udon Thani and from there minivan from either airport or central plaza to Nong Khai.

Just another option.

Is that what they call a "Non - O" visa

????

Which is the easiest place these days to visit a nearby Thai consulate?

Vientiane?

Savannakhet?

Cambodia?

Penang?

With regards rules/regulations, agreeable consulate officers, wait times, documents required, border/airport immigration etc. etc.

Savannakhet is best, all things considered.

Cheers,

How does Vientiane compare?

Do we need to make an appointment these days? Or can we just show up?

Non O multiple entry one year visa.

Non O single entry based on retirement or marriage

Tourist visa

Ideally, I'd be wanting to stay for a year on a Non-O.

I don't mind doing a 1 year extension on a single entry visa within the country, but I'd take the one-year multiple entry if the immigration office offered it.

And if my paperwork is wrong I'd need to make a tourist visa in a pinch, and then convert it inside the country.

In any case, I am just wondering how the different consulates match up for ease of processing.

Vientiane requires an appointment, Savannakhet doesn't.

Thank you.

Do you have any experience with doing visas in Phom Phen or Penang?

Are they trickier in any way?
