Donald Trump's Saudi Arabia Payments Spark Calls for Fresh Investigation

Donald Trump needs to be investigated over the payments he received to host the Saudi Arabia-backed LIV Golf tour at his resorts, according to an organization set up by supporters of murdered journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

The Democracy for the Arab World Now [DAWN] group has called in the Department of Justice and Congress to look further into the "disturbing facts and circumstances" surrounding the controversial golf tour and its ties to the former president after new details on its funding were revealed as part of an ongoing lawsuit filed by the PGA against LIV Golf.

On January 13, it was revealed during court proceedings that the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund [PIF], a sovereign wealth fund headed by the country's Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman [MBS], owns 93 percent of LIV and pays 100 percent of the costs associated with its events.

It seems that Trump and Kushner have been using the presidency to grift as much as they can. It just doesn't get any swampier than this.

It's not surprising that the GOP want to nobble the House Ethics Committee.

Who believes this?

During an interview with CNN's Jake Tapper on Sunday, James Comer, a Kentucky Republican and chairman of the House Oversight and Accountability Committee, said that the probe would also investigate allegations of "influence peddling" leveled against Trump, in addition to Biden. This came in response to a question about the committee's bipartisan intentions, citing concerns about the Trump family and "visitor logs when it comes to Mar-a-Lago."

"I think the influence peddling with respect to the Trump administration will be a part of our overall investigation," Comer said.

Coming DT announcements and their timeline:

Fake news.

It's a hoax.

DAWN is a terrorist organization that has done some very bad things.

I have nothing to do with the production of LIV, I just let them use my golf course.

I didn't attend the event.  I wasn't even in Florida at the time.  (there will be video and pics of him in attendance)

I didn't accept any money.

It was just a fee for use of the course.

There were no laws broken.

Khashoggi wasn't killed, he died of a heart attack.

It's all a hoax.  Whaddabout Hunter Biden's laptop?

You're fake news.

There's a problem with the link. Here's the link to the Newsweek article.

In this case there is no imaginary financing. It's all known. Directly financed by MBS the ripper!

Don't see the big deal, if he's guilty of a crime arrest him already. But this non stop series of investigations with zip to show is getting tiresome.

Like the 7 year Ken Starr investigation of W Clinton. Was that tiresome? Or the 3 year investigation of H Clinton over Benghazi? Was that also tiresome?

The is no reporting of any investigation of Kushner's Saudi deals as yet. If you are aware of one, please link it.

Nearly anything and everything he is investigated for, he will be found to be more crooked than the highway from Chiang Mai to Pai. That is just who and what he is.

The real question is, will he be prosecuted for any of it? It is quite possible that a US ex-president will never be found guilty of anything, or never be made to pay a heavy price, if found guilty.

The GOP and ethics shouldn't be in the same sentence.

I think he will. It's not often that a Russian backed racketeer gets to be president of the US. If he gets away with it, it will truly be the end for American democracy.

Couldn't have cared less about Bill, the tragic Benghazi incident isn't in the same scope of things, don't know why you'd even bring that one up.

How many investigations have been thrown at Trump in last 6 yrs? And nothing. This throwing stuff on the wall to see if something sticks against Trump is tiresome.

The difference is that there is plenty of evidence to investigate Trump and his family. It's kind of irrelevant whether you care about Benghazi or not, it was a 3 year witch hunt which turned up nothing. Both of the investigations I cited went on and on and had no purpose other than to try and win the next election. Suggesting that Trump has done nothing illegal is absurd.

Admittedly, the accusations against Trump have not led to imprisonment and there seems to be no way of succeeding. Dems know if they put the orange one away, there will be repercussions.

People can write all they want but unless he is put away by a jury, it isn't going to happen.

As any big game fisherman will tell you, the fun isn't in the actual landing the fish, it's in the fight.  Watching it jiggle on the hook, repeatedly giving it enough line to think it's getting away and then pulling it back with another turn of the reel.  Making it "tiresome" for it before finally bringing it in is the strategy.  Seeing the poor sap and his supporters believe that he'll wriggle free is just as entertaining as the final blow will be.

This is untested times in US legal system to convict a former and probably a prospective President. Unfortunately history offer no precedent for criminal trials of such personality. Record in US prosecuting the rich and powerful is also not encouraging. However I have faith that he will be convicted and behind bars and it is coming soon.

IMO if they ever get to put him in a cage it may not happen until 2032.  He'd be 86.  He could probably get away with claiming to be hospital-bound for the rest of his life, but maybe him too macho to play that one.  A cuffed perp walk, like Bannon got, could happen.

Put it this way: the stuff Jack Smith has been working on took place in the 1990s.

I was going to say that Trump supporters have very short memories, but in this case it's a case of them having a total mental block with regards to the scams and grifts perpetrated by trump – – unbelievable, so here's a memory jogger for them: –

Donald J. Trump Pays Court-Ordered $2 Million For Illegally Using Trump Foundation Funds
Trump Ordered to Pay Eight Separate Charities $250,000 Each

There is a long list that is easy to find online, but perhaps his supporters think they are "fake news"....only for the gullible.

Even if Trump was found to have taken millions from MBS in return for favorable US policy towards Saudi Arabia, his idiot supporters won't care.  The cult leader can do no wrong.

Nothing of any interest in this. Trump haters blowing hot air as usual. Move on...

what is it when entities constantly manipulate someone into thinking

Evenkeel

This is a coordinated effort to smear.  In the years prior to Trump running for president he was the same man with business interests around the world and minimal news coverage or legal actions.  Since announcing his candadicy the media which is overwhelmingly liberal in concert with their Liberal coharts have siezed on every opportunity to lable ever incident as somehow a crime.  They recognize that the original story and accusations make the headlines and then the lack of evidence such as the Russian collusion are forgotten.

if the amount paid for the rental of one of his golf courses was demonstrably higher than other similar leases than SAY SO AND PROVE IT.  There is nothing wrong with a business person engaging in legitimate business transactions that involve foreign countries.  Now this may seem like a minor point but the contract was between the LIV which is an investment of the Saudi Investment Fund, it was not a contract between Saudi Arabia and Donald Trump.

Yes amazingly I would agree with you.  And do you have any idea if the payment was demonstably above market value.

One thing we sure know is that Hunter Biden has zero qualifications in oil and gas particularly in Ukraine and that his firm had minimal to non existent credentials to be investing over $1 billion dollars.

Oh yes, it provides life changing benefits for the players financially well above anything else available.

LIV events will have a $25 million purse, with a $4 million winner's share. The events are shorter than the PGA Tour's (three days instead of four), and a season-ending team championship brings in a $50 million purse, according to sportswriter Robert Lusetich.

Even the last-place finisher, who earns nothing on the PGA Tour, will get a $120,000 payout after playing an LIV event.

Bryson DeChambeau, an eight-time PGA Tour winner received $100 million to join the LIV series.

That money Brian went to the players not to Donald Trump.  So your post is so far off bounds it should be removed.

LOL, my post stands whether you like it or not and shows just how much over they pay the players and you would be foolish to claim they did not provide more to Trump than a normal PGA tour

I guess MAGA does not count for Trump on this occasion:

"We welcome good, healthy competition," PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan said in a news conference last week. "The LIV Saudi golf league is not that.

"If this is an arms race and the only weapons are dollar bills, the PGA Tour, an American institution, cannot compete with a foreign monarchy that is spending billions of dollars to buy the game of golf."

Trump's Saudi Arabia Payments Could Become His Newest Legal Headache

Trump has hosted a number of LIV Golf events at his resorts, and DAWN argues that through business deals, MBS has been paying Trump millions over the past few years. DAWN is requesting an investigation into the former president to determine if the dealings were legal.

For any dealings between Trump and MBS to be illegal, they would have to have been conducted during Trump's candidacy or his presidency.

Wouldn't surprise me if Jared Kushner was slap bang in the middle of this, its was reported that LIV Golf had been leaning on him.  $2 billion investment he received from the Saudi's for his private equity firm.

Makes absolutely zero sense.
